Carpet Maintenance Tips

Carpets cost money – in fact, they can be incredibly expensive depending on the one you choose. For this reason, you want to protect them as much as possible, to stop them from becoming old and damaged before you’ve got a reasonable amount of use from them. There are various ways in which you can protect your carpet though, some of which are listed below.

Firstly, you should be aware that furniture is one of the main ways that a carpet gets damaged. That sofa you sit on every day is constantly pressing down on the same spot, causing the carpet to become marked and look shabby when the furniture is moved. There is a simple and cheap solution though – put protective coasters underneath the legs of the furniture, thus creating a barrier between the two!

Mud and dirt also often get onto the carpet, and this can cause anything from a minor irritation through to a huge stain that refuses to come out. A simple solution – especially for families with children – is to have a mat at the front door, so that they get rid of all the muck before they tread it into the carpet. You’ll never completely eliminate the dirt brought in from outside, but this will remove most of it.

There is also the option of having carpet protector applied, which will create an invisible barrier between the carpet and everyone walking over it. This is ideal for families with pets, as they love treading mud everywhere when they’ve just come in from outside!

The number one way to keep your carpet looking great though is to get it professionally cleaned at least once a year, or even better once every six months. We are the best carpet cleaners Wiltshire has, so why not get us to come and make your carpet look like new?
